You know what an artist is? Someone who takes a piece of work you never really cared for in the first place and reworks it and makes it truly beautiful. Such is the case with INXS’s Never Tear Us Apart, which haunted us older folk all through the 80’s like a bad Gypsy Kings medley. Here, Beck strips out the radio kicks, alters the tempo a bit, and adds some haunting/funny vocals of DJ St. Vincent—and poof, it’s magic. Beck couldn’t stuff more artistry in his suitcase if he tried. Amazing.
